In days past, if a car buyer wanted to make a custom order purchase, it usually meant that it was a rare (and expensive) car or they were looking for something ultra-specific. Either way, buyers were happy to pay for the right of getting something special, despite knowing that it would probably take time to complete the special order. The allure of purchasing a unique vehicle offset the wait time vs. purchasing a car from the local inventory. Today the car-buying landscape has changed greatly. No longer are there rows and rows of new cars to pick from, so when you desire something different, then buying directly from the factory is your best option. If you need a car immediately, then buying from the vehicles available on the lot now is your only option.
The enjoyable part of custom ordering your new car is that you can select just the tech you need. You can pick a big navigation screen, leather seating, and All-Wheel Drive, and it can be your lucky color: silver! When purchasing from cars in stock, you might have needed to compromise on your wishlist depending on the available new cars. You may be able to get all of the features you wanted, but it was just in the wrong color. Or you could get AWD, but it comes with cloth seats, not leather. When you custom order your next car, you get exactly what you want.
Conversely, when you custom order your new car from the manufacturer, you don’t pay for the upgrade you don’t need. Perhaps you were looking for All-Wheel Drive and Navigation but didn’t care about the leather seating or color. In full transparency, you might not be able to individually choose each option ala carte, yet by ordering your brand-new car, you can minimize the unwanted upgrades. We do suggest that you check out any available option packages, as they tend to offer the most popular upgrades combined together.
